About me . . .
My name is Olivia Wheeler and I am the theatre instructor at Heritage Middle School. This is my 14th year teaching and I am so excited to be back in this building again! For my first three years of teaching I taught at Leavenworth High School in Kansas. At Leavenworth I taught the introductory theatre classes as well as the debate and forensics classes. I also assisted with play and musical productions and was the head debate and forensics coach. For the last 11 years I have taught the theatre, debate and speech classes here at Heritage formerly known as Liberty Junior High. This year I will be teaching Speech and Theatre 6-8 here at Heritage. I also direct both the play and musical here.
I am originally from Blue Springs and graduated from Blue Springs South High School. I received by Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Central Missouri in Speech Communication and Theatre. I completed my Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership from Park University.
I have been married for the last thirteen years to my high school sweetheart, Joe. Joe is also a teacher in the Liberty School District. He teaches automotive technology at Liberty High School and builds the sets for the Heritage play and musical productions. I have two amazing children, Stella who is nine and Sebastian who is seven. They are super happy, spunky kids! I also have two dogs named Max and Roxy.
I absolutely love acting and theatre! My personal favorite style of acting is classical. I love nothing more than acting in some kind of Shakespearean play or comedy of manners! I also love anything crafty - especially DIY decorating projects. I currently volunteer at KC Pet Project where I walk dogs. Two of my other favorite things to do are to cook and go hiking. I also LOVE to travel!!
